Kate Meehan, Soulshaker"Soulshaker" A first class release from Australia's Queen of the blues, Kate's Vocals along with Australia's most talented musicians and the recording expertise of A# Sharp studios makes this one of the finest CDs released in 2002 "Kate Meehan has been compared to Koko Taylor, which is a pretty tough act to follow. However this gal can sing the blues as good as any that have come before her".

Kate Meehan, As Long As I've Sung The BluesA fine album........strong vocals, very solid band, good feel and a really good sound. This compares favourably with a lot of American blues bands, and it is head and shoulders better than almost all the unsolicited albums I receive... LITTLE ARTHUR DUNCAN - Live in ChicagoLITTLE ARTHUR DUNCAN - "Live in Chicago" Little Arthur Duncan's blues are infectious. As he sings, Arthur throws his head back, allowing pure emotion to escape his soul and penetrate his audience. He bounces up and down with the microphone firmly clenched in one hand, drawing inspiration from the sweat on his own brow. When he plays the blues harp, he contorts his entire body to draw out every note. He is a dynamic and energetic performer. JIMMIE LEE ROBINSON - Chicago JumpJIMMIE LEE ROBINSON - "Chicago Jump" The late Chicago blues guitarist and vocalist Jimmie Lee Robinson worked and recorded with Eddie Taylor, Freddy King, Willie Mabon and was part of Little Walter's band for several years. Known for his slashing, fast-fingered guitar riffs, he combined rough from-the-country blues with a more modern, urban sound. This CD is a previously unreleased studio session done in 1995-6. It features songs he never recorded before.
CHIEF SCHABUTTIE GILLIAME - Snakes Crawl At NightCHIEF SCHABUTTIE GILLIAME - "Snakes Crawl At Night" A stout, jolly man who calls voodoo his religion, Chief is a lover of big- legged women and he claims to have 7 wives and 17 children. He speaks with a heavy African accent, writes from right to left, and sings with a gravelly voice that has been likened to Howlin Woff. A natural on the stage or in the studio, Chief entrances himself in his singing while delivering his message with great passion. SAM LAY - I Get EvilSAM LAY - "I Get Evil" It's got a great cast of musicians and this CD marks the first time on record Sam has accompanied himself on solo guitar. The Blues doesn't get any deeper than that. Sam is an artist who stays true to himself. What you hear here is basically what you'll hear in his live shows. Pure unfettered Chicago Blues. You don't hear many folks playin' it this real these days. Sam Lay is still the Shuflle Master!
HOWARD GLAZER & THE EL 34's - Brown Paper BagHOWARD GLAZER & THE EL 34's - "Brown Paper Bag" A variety of musical endeavours continued to mold Howard's unique style, most notably his recent work with Harmonica Shah who he's toured the world with several times. His new record "Brown Paper Bag" expounds on the blues rock mix, taking it to another level. While maintaining his blues integrity, Howard and his band members Bob Goodwin and Charles Stuart have opened up "full throtttle" for an approach that promises to deliver in the uncompromising manner that the Motor City is known for.
